Day Thirteen of #30dayscleansingchallenge

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and having a wholesome nutritious one is highly difficult. With all the modernisation (western influence) humans usually tend to settle on easily available bread and jam (both filed with sugars and simple carbs). If you look into traditional south indian diet, you will notice how it is the best in the world! Except for all the ghee and butter and milk :P I don’t agree with kids and parents who think that chocos and other processed breakfast cereals as a healthy option. Today I am going to highlight the best south indian food inventions. Watch this video before reading further: https://youtu.be/PGYzSHGUDGo

It is the most nutritious food. When paired with rich side dishes, nothing can beat idly!

  • Black lentils provide high amount of protein and are light on the stomach

  • Idly can be consumed by people and animals of all ages irrespective of physical conditions.

  • Aides weight loss

  • Fenugreek is by itself a very nutirious seed that is part of idly

  • Rich in amino acids

  • Fermentation produces effective enzymes and Vitamin B

  • Manages blood suagr and pressure

  • Steaming ensures no nutrient is lost

I have idly every morning. That is my secret :P Now I am gonna teach you too to get into this practise. One can make any side dish for idly. Idly goes well with everything.

How to make idly?

1/4 Cup Urad Dal (black lentils)

1 Cup Idly Rice or any Millets

2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (Vendhayam)

1 teaspoon Salt

  1. Soak everything separately over night.

  2. Grind individually in a wet grinder and make them into a fine smooth batter.

  3. Mix them together with the salt and let it ferment overnight.

  4. The batter will rise and double after the fermentation.

  5. Now, make idly by pouring it into the cavities on an idly pan and steam for 10 mins.

What about the chutney?

Two very ripe tomatoes

A big garlic clove

A red onion

Curry leaves
