Anyone can feel stressed out post celebrations (birthday, in my case), deadlines and everyday chores. Stress can be physical or emotional. We are also worn out of energy to recharge and resume activities. In that case, don’t reach out to bottled energy drinks (read as toxins), but boil some sweet potatoes and have as a meal! I crave for sweet potatoes often and am addicted to it. I do not fry or roast instead steam or boil and eat just like that :D
Why is it amazing? In 100 gms of raw sweet potato, there are:
Vitamin A- 709 µg
Vitamin C- 2.4 mg
Vitamin E- 0.26 mg
Vitamin K- 1.8 µg
Vitamin B1- (Thiamine) 0.08 mg
Vitamin B2- (Riboflavin) 0.06 mg
Vitamin B3- (Niacin) 0.56 mg
Vitamin B5- (Panthothenic acid)0.8 mg
Vitamin B6- (Pyridoxine) 0.21 mg
Folate- 11 µg
Choline- 12.3 mg
Calcium- 30 mg
Iron 0.61- mg
Magnesium- 25 mg
Phosphorus- 47 mg
Potassium- 337 mg
Sodium- 55 mg
Zinc- 0.3 mg
Copper- 0.15 mg
Manganese- 0.26 mg
Selenium- 0.6 µg
Vitamin B6 reduces the chemical homocysteine that has been linked with degenerative diseases, including heart attacks.
Vitamin C helps in bone / tooth formation, digestion, blood cell formation, wound healing, produces collagen which helps maintain skin’s youthful elasticity, and reduces stress.
Choline is a very important and versatile nutrient in sweet potatoes that helps with sleep, muscle movement, learning and memory, maintaining the structure of cellular membranes, transmission of nerve impulses, absorption of fat and reduces chronic inflammation.
Iron involves in red and white blood cell production, resistance to stress, proper immune functioning, and the metabolising of protein.
Magnesium is the relaxation and anti-stress mineral.
Potassium is one of the important electrolytes that help regulate heartbeat and nerve signals, relaxes muscle contractions, reduces swelling, and manages activity of the kidneys.
High fibre content helps to prevent constipation and promote regularity for a healthy digestive tract.
You could also cut raw sweet potatoes into circles and dry roast in the oven but they tend to loose most nutrients that way. So keep it simple for maximum benefits. I also use them to bake muffins and brownies. They also make excellent healthy frosting!

Being a root vegetable, they are in direct contact with earth. This enables maximum storage of mineral nutrients directly from the soil which in turn enriches us.
