Day Twenty-six of #30dayscleansingchallenge

One of the best ways to detox is spend time with nature, as I mentioned earlier about smoothie bowl on day 18. Getting to the wildest of nature is among the feral. So I did when in the forests of Guindy. There is not much left in Chennai, as new complexes and human encroachment has sprouted everywhere. Inside the campus of an educational institute, we experience such untouched beauty. Herbi and I often resort to spend tiring days there to rejuvenate by gulping in tonnes of fresh fruits and also sharing with our animal friends. Note: Do not feed artificial food to animals.

On this day of cleansing I was mentally detoxed of all negativity and rooted strongly to nature. So what did I do? I had fresh juices like cucumber mint lime, pineapple, and papaya. Also ate watermelon and bananas. The steamed corn is the highlight of today, as we all tend to forget such thing existed because we are busy popping them ;) Steaming corn cobs has no oil and does not undergo charring. Even the animals enjoy them!

  • Folate, also known as vitamin B9 or folic acid, folate is an essential nutrient, especially important in pregnancy.

  • Potassium: An essential nutrient that is important for blood pressure control and may improve heart health.

  • Niacin, also called vitamin B3, niacin in corn is not well absorbed. Corn with lime can make it more available for absorption.

  • Pantothenic acid, one of the B-vitamins, also called vitamin B5. It is found to some extent in nearly all foods and deficiency is therefore rare.

  • Most notably carotenoids, such as zeaxanthin and lutein, may have considerable benefits for eye health.

We usually assume it is difficult to obtain amino acids through a plant-based diet, but here we have one other simple food with such nutrition often overlooked. Corn can be the best snack while travelling and easily made at home by pressure cooking it. A little bit of lemon, salt, pepper and masala takes it to a whole new level!

Now it is your turn to detox by enjoying such amazing nature’s food!
