Day Nine of #30dayscleansingchallenge

Hi, how is it going? Or should I ask, cleansing? Well, I got a little bored. And was craving something cool for this summer and decided to have some ice-cream ;) WHAT!? An ice-cream during a detox? Chill! It is a healthy one. Lemme tell you how. Oh, before that, it is also my dad’s birthday and I made some oil-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, millets-based chocolate cake for him. I had some with the ice-cream but forgot to capture it. Everyone loves it! :D Now back to ice-cream.

Vegan ice creams are not in market in here, but one can make it at home. It is a bit annoying process though :P There are several ways to prepare them, but I chose to use only fruits this time.

  1. Slice up some very ripe bananas and freeze them overnight.

  2. Then use a blender to beat them until they form a ball.

  3. Add in any flavours— I used raw cacao powder and chia seeds.

  4. Blend again and it softens.

  5. Now keep the blender containing the mixture in the freezer for an hour.

  6. Blend again.

  7. Transfer into a bowl and garnish with nuts n fruits. I kept it plain.

  8. Put this bowl into freezer for an hour again.

  9. Then serve this amazing Frozen banana nice-cream!

Why is it called a nice-cream? Well, It is perfectly healthy for the body, does not harm the animals, and also good for the planet. That is why it is nice. What does it do?

Bananas are thought to have originated in Malaysia around 4,000 years ago. From there, they spread throughout the Philippines and India, where in 327 B.C. Alexander the Great's army recorded them being grown. Bananas are versatile to make gooey creamy dishes.

  • The natural mood-enhancer tryptophan helps to relieve Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

  • Lowers the body temperature and cool you during a fever or on a hot day.

  • Makes you smarter and help with learning by making you more alert.

  • Improves mood and reduces PMS symptoms.

  • Regulates blood sugar and produces stress-relieving relaxation.

  • High in potassium and low in salt, lowers blood pressure and protects against heart attack and stroke.

Also there is natural unprocessed cacao in it. Usually cocoa powder is highly processed to give the dark color and enhance flavour. This destroys the nutrient content in it. Note: If you find the taste of cacao too strong, add coconut milk or nut milk. Avoid dairy, as it will prevent antioxidant absorption.

  • Raw cacao contains nearly four times the antioxidant content of regular processed dark chocolate.

  • Cacao contains the mood improver, anandamide – known as the bliss molecule, which creates a feeling of euphoria.

  • Mood-enhancing compound found in cacao is PEA or phenethylamine, which triggers the release of endorphins and pleasurable opium-like neuro chemicals.

  • Cacao boosts brain levels of serotonin, the feel good brain chemical.

  • Contains over 700 compounds and the complex antioxidants found in it known as polyphenols help reduce ‘bad cholesterol’ and prevent hardening of the arteries.

  • Polyphenol antioxidants found in cacao protect our cells from premature oxidation or destruction and can keep us looking and feeling younger longer.

  • Magnesium is found in high concentrations and helps to protect against osteoporosis, reduces type II diabetes, and lowers blood pressure.

  • Improves microcirculation, increases oxygen saturation, and improves skin hydration.

Who needs pills instead of all the benefits from natural sources? I will also make some exciting nice-creams using other fruits and plant milk— stay frozen.

I scream! You scream! We scream! Nice-cream! :D
