Day Eight of #30dayscleansingchallenge

It is International Women’s Day and the whole world is going crazy :P Well, ‘happy women’s day’ if that is supposedly expected. I respect all genders equally without bias and I wish everyone respects one another and gives freedom to be their own. Peace begins from each one of us. So, what are we doing today? Hmm, let me think. We have been successfully detoxing for a whole week and fabulous it is already! Sometimes during deep cleansing we tend to forget protein and mineral requirements. The best way to solve that is legumes (beans, peas and lentils). How about some chickpeas tossed with fresh salad?

Chickpeas (Channa) are packed with proteins and are best egg and meat substitute sans the cholesterol. Indian cuisines use chickpeas in a lot of ways, most of them loaded with oil and spices. But as a detox we can use them boiled with salads like how I did today.

  • Beta-sitosterol – the dominant phytosterol in chickpeas, and saponins – phytochemicals found in a number of plant-based foods contribute to the potential cardio protective benefits of chickpeas by reducing plasma cholesterol levels.

  • Folate controls high homocysteine levels, another well-known risk factor for heart disease.

  • Magnesium works its cardio protective magic by relaxing the arteries.

  • Excellent natural source of zinc and copper— two minerals that are essential for the development and function of immune cells.

  • High fibre contents curbs appetite and aides effective weight management.

What is rest of the salad made up of?

Capsicum

Tomato

Onion

Cucumber

Sesame seeds

Sunflower seeds

I just finely chopped the veggies, added boiled chickpeas (saved the water— aquafaba) and sprinkled some sesame and sunflower seeds. These veggies have high water content thereby helping in cleansing of the system.

High protein and very filling chickpeas salad is ready to be devoured!
