Its World Forest day! Does it matter? Yes, it does! Is it important? Very! Well, I’ll tell you why. Every one of us are from the forests. Every being is from the forest. Its humans who demolished the forests for greed, constructed buildings, emitted pollution and call our species ‘Civilised’. We just blindly forget that forests are the lungs of the planet. They provide us with food resources and other necessities for our living. We need to learn to live with gratitude. With that said, I am going to introduce you to Dahamukthi— the herbal thirst quencher. It is made of a composition of few ayurvedic herbs. Many might not be familiar with this and one can find in any country medicine shop or health food stores.

What is in it?
Ramacham (Vetiver) roots are used for making medicated drinking water suitable for digestion. It purifies blood, remove body odour and excessive sweating besides its cooling and refreshing.
Malli (Coriander) when regularly consumed improves digestion and cures digestive ailments.
When Pathimugam is boiled in water, the water gets purified and thereby drinking this water can prevent epidemic diseases spreading through water. It is used as an ingredient in almost all Ayurvedic medicines and because of its prophylactic nature.
Nannari (Indian Sarasaparilla') roots have the medicinal quality of providing relief from constipation, and acidity, while also purifying blood. It is a wonder herb with its cooling medicinal property of protecting one from common summer ailments.
Chukku (Dry Ginger) relieve indigestion, stomach cramping.it helps to enhance mood and relieve stress. Caradamom ( Elam) used for flavouring and helps in digestion.

How to make it?
Take a big vessel filled with drinking water.
Put 1/2 teaspoon of this herbal dry mixture into the water and boil until it turns red.
Cool completely and drink as regular water.

Fill in bottles while travelling to keep refreshed and cool. This will be helpful for those without proper drinking water sources. No need of artificial rays and chemicals to “purify” water while we have been blessed with nature’s purifiers.

May the forest be with you
