Day Twenty of #30dayscleansingchallenge

Sundays can be tiring after all the Saturday fun. And we would prefer not to cook during the laziest day of the week. I fall into the same category. But we cannot compromise on our daily protein and mineral intakes. That is why some good soul discovered ‘sprouts’. So what is sprouting? Every seed that falls from a fruit onto the soil, is enriched with water and begins its journey to grow. That is when the maximum energy is stored in them to enrich their proliferation.

I usually have sprouts of any seeds that I find. Today was alfalfa (horse gram) green lentils mix. Some other options are Shorgum, chickpeas, fenugreek, peas and so on. To sprout, soak them overnight and wash and wrap in a cotton cloth and leave it in a dark place for one day. Once they start sprouting, we can consume it with salads or in any dish— though raw form is best.

There are a lot of wonders happening to the sprout and out body when we consume them:

  • The energy contained in the seed, grain, nut, or legume is ignited through soaking and sprouting.

  • Improves blood circulation, strengthens and repairs capillaries to get strong and thick hair.

  • High amounts of vitamin A in sprouts stimulate hair follicles and encourage the scalp to produce more hair.

  • Sprouts are alkalizing to your body.

  • The potent antioxidants present in the sprouts prevent the corrosion of tissues, reducing the possibility of premature hair greying.

  • Selenium in sprouts helps to kill Malassezia, a fungus which sheds dry fragments from the scalp.

  • Sprouting activated the enzymes which are special types of proteins that act as catalysts for all your body’s functions.

  • Proteins change during the soaking and sprouting process, improving its nutritional value.

  • Amino acid lysine, which is needed to prevent cold sores and to maintain a healthy immune system increases significantly during the sprouting process.

  • During sprouting, minerals bind to protein in the seed, grain, nut, or bean, making them more useable in the body.

  • Alkaline minerals like calcium, magnesium, and others than help us to balance our body chemistry for weight loss and better health.

All life forms sprout to a new beginning. Be a part of that massive energy transformation to inculcate the nourishments and emerge into new healthy beings. Love sprouts.
