Day Four of #30dayscleansingchallenge
Tea-tox is what happening today. What is it? You’ll know soon. I decided to take it light today and collected some herbs like lemongrass, green tea, ginger and lemon.
We all know that lemongrass is used as a natural insect repellant and helps in preventing the occurrence of insect-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue and Lyme disease. But what happens when we consume it?
Removes harmful toxins from the body
Relieves fever and pain
Cures stomach disorders
Helps control cholesterol levels in blood
Combats unpleasant body odour (Yeah! deodorise from the inside)
Cures edema (water retention)
Soothes nerves (nervine)
Maintains optimum levels of insulin and improves the tolerance of glucose in the body
It has sedative and hypnotic properties which help in increasing the duration and quality of sleep
Green tea is everyone’s best friend as sometime back the whole world went crazy after this stuff due to the fact that it reduces weight like magic. I was in that wagon too, shamelessly. More than just weight loss, green tea aides in various other functions too:
It is loaded with polyphenols like flavonoids and catechises (powerful antioxidants)
The antioxidant Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) treats various diseases
L-theanine increases the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, which has anti-anxiety effects. It also increases dopamine and the production of alpha waves in the brain
The catechins inhibit the growth of bacteria and some viruses lowering the risk of infections and improves dental health.
Lowers the risk of developing type II diabetes.
Ginger is another bomb to this tea-tox. Most you might have just forgotten about this amazing rhizome completely. From ancient times, ginger has been in natural medicine and culinary uses. This is because it:
Prevents cold and flu
Relieves menstrual cramps
Improves digestion
Heals inflammations
Detoriates motion sickness
Prevents ovarian and colon cancer
Lemon is incredible! I always squeeze some into everything. The smell by itself is very refreshing and the juice extracted gives tons of benefits:
Energiser
Balances pH in the body
Cures throat infections
Prevents the formation of wrinkles and acne
Blood purifier
Aids weight loss
A great source citric acid, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium
With such a powerful combo, I created this robust tea! BTW, that is me- fluffy, strong, peaceful, and tea-toxing :P And the mug says "To make something special, You need to believe it is special" :D
Dump a bit of everything into boiling water and let sit for 10 mins. Squeeze lemon, filter and enjoy!
So basically, when you detox the system with herbal teas, its called tea-tox ;)
